WAPPP wishes you a happy Women’s Day
“Every women’s success is an inspiration to another”
Women around the world have confirmed their leadership in many areas, and sometimes built successful and high impact businesses and participated strongly to the economic growth of their countries.
Women have proven that when given the opportunity, they can rise to the occasion and take responsibilities.
When the World Association of PPP Units & Professionals was launched in Geneva 2018, I was the only woman among the seven founders of the Association.
I joined WAPPP as a volunteer without knowing what I was supposed to do. I had three years full of challenging situations and inspiring moments, sometimes stressful. But I am part of a supportive team with whom I am able to reach out for advice and support.
I went on from being a Co-founder, to being the Chair of the Membership Committee, and later the Chair of the Editorial Board. All are positions that need dedication and learning. It has all been time consuming but enjoyable.
Since then, many women have contributed to growing WAPPP, and today 25% of all WAPPP members are women. We are aiming for 50%. Our network is composed of dynamic, smart and dedicated women from different backgrounds working hard to promote PPP. They include Heads of PPP units and other practitioners from varied sectors.
We support the diverse women within our Association who are strengthening their skills and building confidence to lead, and we are very proud of our current women Chapter Leaders.
WAPPP promotes best practices to design more resilient and sustainable PPPs and provides its members with a brilliant opportunity to develop their careers and to network with other PPP practitioners.
I take this opportunity to thank all the women who share my daily life, both professional and personal for their support and dedication.
